. a state-wide manhunt for a man san jose police say stabbed a woman to death. this is the suspect, 29- year-old juan ramirez. new tonight -- investigators say he and his victim were at one point romantically involved. but since then --- a restraining order had been filed against him. the murder happened yesterday afternoon. right now, police are asking for your help to track down the accused killer. kron4's rob fladeboe has the latest. >> issue was a very nice young lady. >> reporter: john nguyen shared garage space with the victim, who lived with her young son in this apartment on first street and died in the parking lot after being stabbed multiple times by her ex boyfriend with what witnesses described as a butcher knife. >> i think that i've seen this guy before. >> reporter: this was that same parking lot friday evening as heavily-armed police scoured the neighborhood for the killer, who was seen jumping a fence and escaping on foot. video from our helicopp with abc 7 nes shows squads of police, their guns drawn, going door to door in search of a man later identified as 29-year-old jua

into san francisco, near candlestick park,. the second happened later that afternoon when san jose police shot and killed another man after starting a chase. the third involves union city police who shot and killed a suspect after an attempted traffic stop turned into a footchase. the fourth, as we just mentioned, was the shooting with hayward police earlier this morning. >> vallejo police are investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide. officers were on their way to an apartment for a welfare check this morning, when neighbors reportedly heard gunshots. a male and female were both found with bullet wounds. it's unclear what their relationship was. police are looking into that and the circumstances surrounding their deaths. >> the annual escape from alcatraz triathlon turned deadly today. authorities say a 46-year- old man suffered "a massive cardiac event" as he was getting into the water to start the race. emergency crews noticed him right away. pulled him from the water. and began administering c-p-r but were unable to save him. this is believed to be the first death at the gruel

in san jose say "show me the money." tomorrow, the city's minimum wage will go up two dollars. to 10-dollars an hour. that goes for both part-time and full-time employees. it also includes those working on tips. kron four's philippe djegal works out the numbers for the average worker. >> so, this is how it works. and, we'll use part-time workers as an example. someone now making eight dollars an hour, six hours a day, thirty hours a week, is making about 12,470- dollars in a year. but with minimum wage now going up to 10-dollars an hour, that all changes. that person now making 10- dollars an hour, multiplied by six hours in a day, equals 60-dollars a day. multiply that by five days a week, comes out to 300- dollars. multiply that by four- point-three-three weeks in a month, comes out to about 1,299-dollars. multiply that in a year, and that comes out to 15,588-dollars. that's an increase of about three thousand dollars a year. city councilmen sam liccardo says that's good for employees. but in the long run, could have a negative impact on small businesses. a three-thousand dollar ra

involving mielke. car thefts in one south bay city are on the rise. san jose is seeing a 53- percent increase this year, compared to last year police say, more than 18- hundred cars were stolen in the first two months of 2013. that number is up. from nearly 12-hundred car thefts during the same time last year. the 1994 honda accord. is reportedly the most stolen car in the u-s. kron 4's stanely roberts spoke with victims. who had their 1994 honda accords stolen more than once. nats: which is this one i put it on the break i do it like that i get a lock you have to do all that just to drive your car im in san jose near story road where chris aldo is demonstrating how he has to use not one but two separate locks to keep thieves from stealing his 1994 honda accord chris aldo had learned from experience you see this black honda in his back yard this one has been stolen twice yes this black 1994 honda was stolen and then driven till the wheels fell off. not really the thieves ran out of gas they punched the ignition switch which was one of the flaws of the 94 accords i know i use to own

in oakland. reporting in oakland, kron 4. >> we're following a developing story right now out of san jose. where police are investigating the city's 7th homicide of the year this is video from our helicopter partnership with abc7 news. just before four this afternoon, san jose police received a report of a man-- believed to be stabbed--. it happened in guadalupe oak grove park in almaden valley. the victim is believed to be in his late teens or twenties. he was pronounced dead at the scene. it's not yet known what led up to the incident nor the motive. no suspects have been identified or apprehended. >> pam: tonight, in one contra costa county town. the warning to residents was simply this -- a high risk sex offender will soon be living in your neighborhood. that's the message that the sheriff's office gave to neighbors in bay point today. >> he will be under strict supervision. he will be under 247 gps monitoring of. he could be searched, tested at any time and as a curfew. it will be difficult to know what he will be going at every second vote will make every effort". effort at it." >>

spoke with the police officer who found the baby. j-r is live outside the victim's san jose home. with the story. j.r? the amber alert for the baby has since been canceled. this is video from our helicopter partnership with abc 7 news. here's how it all unfolded. at 6:40 this morning, a white jeep liberty was stolen from the driveway of graciella quintero -- with her baby, gabriella inside. quintero says, she stepped away from her car momentarily -- and when she returned, it was gone. at 11:22 a-m officers found the stolen jeep at an apartment complex near the seven trees community center. with the baby still in the backseat. the baby appeared to be in good health but was taken to a hospital as a precaution. a short time later-- at 12:30 this afternoon-- the baby and her mother, were reunited at the hospital. happening right now-- thousands of people marching to and rallying in front of san francisco's city hall. marching for-- marriage equality. ahead of tomorrow's historic u.s. supreme court hearings on california's voter -approved ban on gay marriage. >> every day we get optim
